Here  is  a  new  interview  with  India's  thrash/heavy  metal  band  Abaddon.Hope  you  will  enjoy the  interview  and  if you  are  a  fan  of  thrashing heavy  metal  be  sure  to  get this  band's   new  Mcd.

Interview  with  Abaddon   done  by   Patrick

1.Hello  how  are  things  going  with the  band  at this  time? Please  introduce yourselfs  to  the  readers?

Hello! Things are going pretty cool.
We are Abaddon, a Heavy/Thrash metal band from Bangalore, India. Our lineup consists of Jehosh Gershom on the bass and vocals, Samarth Hegde on the drums, Akash Ponanna on lead guitar and Naag Bharath on the rhythm guitar.

2.When  did  you  all  get  the  idea  to  form    Abaddon?  How  did you  all  decide  on  the  band  name?

Ever since we started listening to metal we've been influenced to pick up our instruments and play stuff. Jehosh, Akash and me (Naag) knew each other from college and we used just jam together and cover songs.
One Sunday, we had a casual jam and since we all knew each other from a long time it was quite easy to get along and we had a fun and productive jam session and that's when we thought that we need to take this forward. Those guys already knew a vocalist (Ankit) and we found a drummer (Sharan) and the lineup was complete. And then we started writing songs and playing gigs.

A few months later we had a lineup change with first, the drummer and later on, the vocalist parting ways with us. After checking out a few drummers for quite a while we settled on Samarth for the drums and eventually Jehosh decided to take over the vocals and here we are!

Coming up with a name for the band was a real task as every name we came up with was either already taken or was too lame! Jehosh came across the name 'Abaddon' somewhere on the internet, which means "The Destroyer". We all thought it was a pretty cool name but there were already a lot of other bands with the same name. We were all already frustrated looking for names and thought fuck it, let's use that name!

3.For  the  readers  who  have   never  heard  Abaddon's   music  how  would  you  best  describe  it?

I think our music is basically a mix of Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal but maybe more towards heavy metal. The genre aside, we have a varied set of songs ranging from simple melodic Heavy Metal to Thrash.

4. Abaddon   recently  released their  new  Mcd  "Son  Of  Hell"   how  long  did  it  take  to  write the  music  for  this  release?Does the  whole  band  work  on  the  music  or  does  one  member  usually  write  everything?

We took close to one and half years to write the music for Son of Hell, which included the lineup change and a few months of inactivity due to that. Writing the music is more of a collective effort, unless one of us has already written a full song. Normally, we all have a couple of riffs and ideas and try to figure things out and put them together while jamming.

5.Does   Abaddon    get  to  play  "live"  very  often  or  do you  prefer  to  work  in  the  studio? What  have  been  some  of  the  bands  most  memorable  shows to  date?

Yeah, we do get to play live often that's what gives us our kick! We've only been in the studio once, when we recorded our CD.
We've had a lot of fun and enjoyed playing each show so far. We had a real blast playing at Insurrection, Twisted Metal, Echoes from beneath, Bangalore Open air pre-gig etc last year. We've had a lot of fun times playing at Garage Jam (this used to happen in a garage of a music store every Friday, free entry. Now it's been shifted to a different venue).
And of course, the shows when we were too drunk to play and fucked up but it didn't matter much because everyone else was drunk too!

6.Are  their  any  tours  or  shows  planned  for  2016?If  yes  who  are  some  bands you  will  be  sharing the stage with?

No tours but there are a couple of shows being planned right now which we're really looking forward to. Too early to be revealing band names right now but we will be sharing stage with some real awesome bands!

7.Besides the  new  Mcd  does the  band  have  any  other  releases  or  merchandise  available  for  the  readers? If  yes  where  can  the  fans  buy  it  from?

We have no other merch as of now, just the MCD and it can be picked up online from Transcending Obscurity at the link below:

8. Abaddon   comes  out  of  India's  metal  scene  what  is  your   opinion  on  India's  metal  scene?

India's metal scene is growing a lot now and is becoming much better than what it used to be. There are a lot of new bands coming out frequently, lots of new music being made and its very diverse too! There are many bands across all sub-genres of metal. But of course, it can't pay our rent/bills here and we need to rely on day jobs for that!

9.Who  are  your  all-time  favorite  bands  from  India? Are their   any  new  up and coming  bands you  feel the  readers  should  watch  out  for?

Kryptos, Threinody, Lucidreams, Dying Embrace, Albatross, Chaos, Dhwesha, Indus Creed, Parikrama, Millennium, Djinn and Miskatonic, Neolithic Silence, Armament, Amorphia, The Black Regiment, Gaia's Throne, Against Evil, Mindmap, TearFrost, High Frequency, Humanbroth.
10.Besides  bands  does  India   have  any  good  labels  or  distro's  you  think the readers  should  check  out?

Transcending Obscurity, Demonstealer records, Cyclopean Eye Productions, Mahatobar Distribution, Slaytanic Distro.

11.What   does  underground   metal  mean  to you all?

Underground or mainstream, what matters is how we connect with the music. So it's best to explore all bands, regardless of whether they're mainstream or underground

12.Besides   Thrash  and  metal   in  general  do you  all  listen  to  any  other  forms  of  music. If  yes who  are some  of your  favorite  artists  and  bands?

We listen to a lot of Rock'n'Roll and anything else that sounds good too. ACDC, Kiss, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, CCR, Grateful dead, Shpongle, The Aristocrats etc.

13.Other then  working  in  Abaddon   do  any  of the  members  currently  work  with  other  bands  or  projects? If  yes  please  tell the  readers a  little  about  them?

Nope, none of us work in any other bands or projects as of now.

14.When  not  working  on   music  or  band  promotion  what  do you  enjoy  doing  in your  free  time?

We enjoy getting drunk, exploring alternate realities, visiting nearby galaxies, road tripping, just chilling with some good music etc.
15.Thank  you  all  for taking  the  time  to  fill  this  interview out.Do  you  all  have  any  final  words  for the  readers?

 Thank you for the interview!
Please do check out our music and let us know how you feel about it.
Keep Thrashing!
...And don't forget to chill!
