Interview   with   Leo drummer  for  Chaosbringer   done  by   Patrick

1.Hello   Leo  how  are  things  going  with you  these days? Please   introduce  yourself to  the  readers?
Hails! Everything is going pretty fine. I'm Leo and I do the drum duties for CHAOSBRINGER.
2.At  what  age  did you  first  discover  metal  music? Who   were  some  of the  first  bands  you   listened to?
Well back in times when I was living in a small town in Syberia, I had a friend from school with whom we were fascinated with heavy metal and rock music, and surely eventually we began listening to metal, growing hair and attending some local gigs, we were probably around 13-14 years old back then. We were blasting METALLICA, SODOM, KREATOR, DARK ANGEL, SEPULTURA, IRON MAIDEN, ARIA (basically the russian version of Maiden) and stuff like that, thrash and heavy metal. Then I began exploring more extreme genres like death and black metal. So eventually I became evil metal obsessed freak haha. That's basically the whole story.

3.When  did you  first  meet the  other  members  of    Chaosbringer? Was  it  long  before you  all  formed  the  band?
The band was founded in 2013 by Eugene and Igor and I joined them in 2015, cause their drummer had switched to bass so they were lacking a drummer. Eugene found me online in a local social network, then we met at ENTOMBED A.D. show in Saint-Petersburg and decided to try playing together.
4.What  is the  current  line-up  of    Chaosbringer? And  for  the  readers   who  have   never  heard    Chaosbringer's  music  how  would  you  best  describe  it?
It's Eugene on guitar/vox, Igor on second guitar and me on drums. Sadly we don't have a constant bassist now. Our music could be described as filthy OSDM in a British vein, heavily influenced by BOLT THROWER and the whole WARHAMMER universe.
5.The  band   is  getting ready  to  release  their  debut  demo  "Immersion  In  Darkness"  how   long  did  it  take  to  write  the  music  for this  release? Does the  whole  band  take  part  in  the  writing  process?Who   usually  writes  the  lyrics  for  the  songs  and what  are  subjects  you  all  write  about?
Well, it seems that you're lacking information haha, cause we already released it physically on tapes via Cadaveric Dissolution label, and we are also spreading it by ourselves. The music for this demo was written in 2013. Eugene writes all the music and lyrics, with occasional contributions to lyrics by Igor. But surely we are doing some arrangements together. Our lyrics are dealing with chaos and various aspects of war.
6.I  believe  the demo  is  available  on Chaosbringer's  bandcamp  site are  their  any  plans  to  release the demo  on   a  physical  format?  If  yes  when  will  it  be  released  and  where can the   readers  buy  it?
See the previous answer. It's available on tape through Cadaveric Dissolution records and through us.
7.Has the  band started   working  on  the  next  demo  or  will you  all  work  towards a  full-length?
Currently we are preparing to enter the studio sometime in winter, to record our first LP. The music and lyrics are almost ready and our guitarist Igor is working on the cover and booklet of upcoming release.
8.Any  idea  how   many  songs  will  be  on the  next  release? Will  it  be  self-released  or  would  you   all   like to  find  a  label  to  work  with?
The album will contain probably around nine songs. We are searching for a proper label to release it and we've already had some good offers.
9. Chaosbringer   comes  out  of  the  Russian  old-school  death  metal  scene  what  is your   opinion  of  Russsia's   metal  scene?
The metal scene here is pretty small, but we have plenty of good bands, gig organisers and label/distro guys who're trying to be on the move with gigs and releases!
10.Who   are your   all-time  favorite  Russian  bands  and  are  their  any  new  bands  you  feel  the  readers  should  watch  out  for?
I don't listen to many Russian bands... my favorite among them surely will be ARIA! As for nowadays bands, you should check out PYRE, INTERNAL DAMAGE, CIST, MORBITAL, TANATOR. Also check my stoner/traditional doom project THY SORCERY, we have a demo available on our facebook page.
11.Besides  bands  are  their  any  good  labels  or  distro's  you  feel  the  readers should  check  out   soon?
You should check out the label of our good friend Mik - Cadaveric Dissolution Records! It's great goregrind/death metal label and distro.
12.When  not   working  on  new  music  or  band  business   what  do you  enjoy  doing  in your  free time?
Rotting home and listening to music, watching some movies or playing good old video games, hanging with my buddies, attending local gigs.

13.Leo  you   handle  the  drums  for the  band   at  what  age did you become  interested  in  playing  the drums?  Are you  self taught  or did you take  lessons when  first   starting  out?
Well I became a drummer occasionally. When I was 17, I was hanging with my friends who were jamming some shit at the local rehearsal space, and they were lacking a drummer, so I just filled in and started to learn how to do it, so yeah, I am self taught.
14.Who  are  some  of your   influences  and  favorite  drummers? Besides  the  drums  do  you  currently  play  any  other  instruments?
First drummers who come to mind are Pete Sandoval and Dave Lombardo. I don't play any other instruments.
15.Besides   death  metal  do  you  listen to  any  other  forms   of  underground music? If  yes   who  are  some  of your  favorite  musicians  and bands?
I listen to almost all kinds of metal and also enjoy old hard and progressive rock. I'll leave that second question without answer cause there are tons of them!

16.We  here  at  Ancient  visionz  are  big  movie  fans   do  you  enjoy  watching  movies?  If  yes   what  are  some  of your  favorite   movies of  all-time?
Sure! Me and our guitarist Igor are obsessed with horror movies, especially with b-movie sleaze stuff, cult old classics, giallo, body horror, sci-fi, cyberpunk and so on. As for all-time favorites, let those be ALIEN, THE THING, BLADE RUNNER, VIDEODROME, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, HELLRAISER... the list could go on and on.
17.Who  are  some  of  your  favorite  actors  and  actresses?
Well... I would point out Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price, Kurt Russell, Edwige Fenech, Barbara Steele.
18.Thank  you    Leo  for  taking the  time  to  fill  this   interview   out  do  you   have   any  final  comments  for the   readers?
Thank you for your interest. On behalf of CHAOSBRINGER, I would like to thank all the people who support us and ordered our demo! By the way, it's almost sold out, so if some of you were delaying purchase, it's the right time to do it now! Stay tuned for more as we have plenty of upcoming stuff on the way!
